Coming Soon — Q3 2026

Official Dead as Disco leaderboards are in development and scheduled to launch in Q3 2026, as confirmed on the development roadmap. Brain Jar Games is building a full competitive infrastructure with global rankings, friends-only leaderboards, and seasonal resets. The leaderboard system will track boss clear times, no-damage runs, Infinite Disco streaks, and dedicated speedrun categories across all difficulty levels.

In the meantime, the Dead as Disco community runs unofficial leaderboards through Discord and community platforms. Join the Community Hub to participate in current competitive events while waiting for the official launch.

Planned Leaderboard Categories

The leaderboard system will feature multiple competitive categories to showcase different skills across rhythm combat.

Boss Clear Times

Race against the global community for the fastest boss clear times. Each Boss Idol has separate leaderboard entries for Normal and Hard Mode. Rankings are based on total clear time from first hit to final blow, rewarding players who optimize their attack sequences, Fever Rush timing, and parry chains for maximum efficiency.

  • Individual leaderboards per Boss Idol
  • Normal and Hard Mode tracked separately
  • Time measured from first hit to final blow
  • Filter by global, friends-only, or regional rankings

No-Damage Runs

The ultimate test of rhythm combat mastery. No-damage leaderboards track players who complete boss encounters without taking a single hit. These rankings are separated by boss and difficulty, with special recognition for players who achieve no-damage runs on Hard Mode with full modifier stacks.

  • Separate leaderboards for each boss and difficulty
  • Bonus recognition for Hard Mode no-damage
  • Modifier stacking tracked for additional prestige
  • Verified runs with replay validation

Infinite Disco

How long can you survive the endless rhythm? Infinite Disco leaderboards rank players by longest streak, highest score, and most enemies defeated in a single run. With the mode's dynamic difficulty scaling, these leaderboards reward consistency and endurance as much as raw skill.

  • Longest survival streak leaderboard
  • Highest single-run score rankings
  • Most enemies defeated in one session
  • Modifier-adjusted score multiplier tracking

Speedruns

Dedicated speedrun leaderboards for full-game and category-specific runs. Compete in Any% clears of the entire boss roster, individual boss speedruns, and challenge categories that restrict which skills or modifiers can be used. Speedrun leaderboards will support replay sharing and verification.

  • Any% all-boss speedrun categories
  • Individual boss IL (individual level) runs
  • Restricted category speedruns (no modifiers, etc.)
  • Replay sharing for community verification

How Leaderboards Will Work

The leaderboard system is designed for fairness, transparency, and competitive integrity across all categories.

Global vs. Friends Rankings

Leaderboards will support two primary views: global rankings showing the top players worldwide, and friends-only rankings that let you compete directly with your Steam friends list. Friends leaderboards create a more personal competitive experience, while global rankings let you measure yourself against the entire Dead as Disco player base.

Difficulty Separation

Rankings are strictly separated by difficulty level to ensure fair competition. Normal Mode and Hard Mode have completely independent leaderboards. Within each difficulty, modifier settings are tracked and displayed so players can compare their performance under equivalent conditions. This prevents players on different settings from competing in the same ranking pool.

Anti-Cheat Protection

Brain Jar Games is implementing anti-cheat validation for all leaderboard submissions. Each run will be verified against server-side validation checks that detect tampered game files, modified BPM values, and suspicious clear patterns. Replays of top-ranking runs will be available for community review, creating a transparent verification system that ensures competitive integrity at all levels of play.

Seasonal Resets

Leaderboards will operate on a seasonal schedule, with resets every three months aligned to major content updates. Each season introduces a fresh ranking period, with previous season rankings archived and accessible for viewing. Seasonal resets ensure that new players always have a chance to compete for top spots, and returning players have fresh goals each quarter. Special seasonal rewards may be offered for top performers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Dead as Disco leaderboards.

Official Dead as Disco leaderboards are scheduled to launch in Q3 2026 (July-September 2026), as confirmed by Brain Jar Games on the development roadmap. The leaderboard system is part of the ongoing Early Access development plan, with the initial release expected to include boss clear time rankings, no-damage run tracking, and Speedrun categories. Additional leaderboard features such as Infinite Disco streaks and seasonal rewards may follow in subsequent updates.

The initial leaderboard launch will track multiple competitive categories: Boss Clear Times for each Boss Idol on Normal and Hard difficulty, No-Damage Runs with separate boards per boss and difficulty, Speedrun Rankings for Any% all-boss clears and individual boss runs, and Score Rankings based on combo multipliers and parry accuracy. Infinite Disco streak leaderboards and modifier-adjusted categories may follow in updates. Each category will have global and friends-only ranking views.

Since Dead as Disco is currently available only on Steam (PC), the initial leaderboard launch will be Steam-only. Rankings will be global across all Steam players with regional filtering options. If Dead as Disco expands to other platforms such as PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or Nintendo Switch in the future (currently targeting the 1.0 release in 2027), cross-platform leaderboards would be evaluated based on platform policies and competitive fairness across different hardware capabilities.

Seasonal resets will occur approximately every three months, aligned with major content updates and the quarterly roadmap schedule. At the start of each season, all leaderboard rankings reset to give everyone a fresh start. Your previous season rankings are archived and remain viewable on your profile and in the seasonal history section. Seasonal resets ensure that new players can always compete for top spots and that rankings reflect current game balance after patches. Special cosmetic rewards, profile badges, and titles may be awarded to top performers at the end of each season.
